Known Issues to Watch For
Check dipstick for milky oil. Turbo cooldown required after highway runs.
Common on 2019–2020. Honda updated CVT fluid spec in 2021.
Rubber degrades. Rs. 12,000–18,000 for OEM mounts.
Check headliner around sunroof frame for water staining.
Honda Civic-Specific Inspection Points
- Turbo boost at full throttle (should pull smoothly, no lag)
- Oil level and colour — turbo engines burn oil if misused
- Check for any welding under carpet (accident repair)
- Test AC at maximum cooling — 1.5T heat generation is high
- All 4 tyres for even wear
- Honda CONNECT infotainment — all features working
Walk Away If You See These
- ✗Milky or burnt-smell engine oil
- ✗RS badge on what was originally an Oriel (rebadging)
- ✗Modified exhaust or air intake — voids warranty, stresses turbo
- ✗No Honda authorised service stamps
Depreciation & Resale
Good resale, slightly worse than Corolla. Turbo uncertainty depresses some buyers. 3-year car typically 65–70% of purchase price. RS Turbo variants hold value better.
Our Verdict
Better driver's car than Corolla at the same price used. Buy if you find one with Honda Authorised Service history. Avoid a Civic with unknown turbo maintenance history.
