Honda City and Toyota Yaris have been Pakistan's most debated sedan rivalry for over a decade. Both start around Rs. 42–44 lakh. Both are Japanese quality. Both have massive resale. So which one should you buy in 2025?

Engine & Performance
The Honda City 1.5L IVTEC produces 118hp vs Toyota Yaris 1.5L Dual VVT-i's 107hp. In everyday city driving this difference is imperceptible. The Honda engine revs more freely and feels sportier; the Toyota engine is torquier lower down and better for stop-start traffic. Both return 14–16 km/l in mixed use.
Ride & Comfort
Toyota Yaris rides more softly — better for Pakistan's broken inner-city roads. Honda City feels more taut and precise, which is better on motorways. For Lahore and Karachi city use, Yaris is more comfortable. For motorway drivers between cities, City is the choice.
Interior Space
The Honda City has 6cm more rear legroom — a significant advantage if you regularly carry adults in the back. The Toyota Yaris boot is slightly larger at 476L vs City's 460L. Dashboard quality is comparable; Honda's infotainment interface is slightly better.
Reliability & Parts
Both cars are exceptionally reliable. In Pakistan, Indus Motor (Toyota) has the larger dealer network — 47 outlets vs Honda Atlas's 36. Toyota parts are typically 15–20% cheaper at local market shops (Raja Market Lahore, Shershah Karachi) because of higher volume. Both cars have negligible maintenance costs.
Resale Value
This is where Toyota wins clearly. A 5-year-old Toyota Yaris retains 85–90% of its original price in today's market. The Honda City retains around 80–85%. Over 5 years, this difference can be Rs. 3–5 lakh in your pocket at resale time.
